Dana Pike Masters Training Sequence - Video

In my weekly agility class with Dana Pike we ran a challenging and fun sequence that I think you’ll enjoy.
In Dana’s Facebook post there are two sequences for the same equipment setup. There is a masters level sequence and this masters level sequence with international challenges. You’ll work on some back sides, tight wraps, serpentines, threadle slices, all the usual jump wraps, and moving in and out of speed. Here are Dana’s original sequences on Facebook.
Handling Notes
- Dog on right through 4.
- Dog could run bye 3 or take it as a back side if you just throw them over 2.
- How will you avoid the off course jump straight ahead out of the tunnel 4 and cue the back side of 5? It is a long run on the way in and out of the tunnel and dogs had a lot of speed. I used Snap!‘s name and a his “out” command the first time to get the slice and then “out” while driving forward to get the wrap.
- Which side of the DW will you be on? I chose dog on left and a forward send to 8. - I used push to back to blind cross at 9.
- I tried both blind and front cross on the landing side of 10.
- Then dog on left through the teeter.
- The next challenge is handling 14-15. How you handle that determines what you do next. You could go to the landing of 13 (avoids off course tunnel and gives a tighter turn). I chose to stay dog on left for 13-14 and then “Japanese” 14 to 15 to take the dog to take off side and put him on my right through 18. A Japanese turn is when you take the dog to the take off side of a jump on the opposite side of the handler and then blind cross to change sides and turn the dog to the jump. You can see it in the video.
- Then it’s a should pull through to the A Frame.
- Send to tunnel and blind cross exit to put dog on left through 21. There is a bit of distance and you have to move down that serpentine Serpentine Handling TechniquesSerpentine Sequence line.
- How will you cue a tight right turn to the weaves 21 to avoid off the course jump (again)? I used a Ketschker and it worked perfectly.
- Then just run through to the end!
