Flyball Stuff

So I’m working on the agility articles I mentioned in my article on Dana Pike’s “Fall Maintenance Camp”, shooting video and making diagrams. But I put that on hold to take Milo to the Ultimutts Flyball tournament a couple weekends ago. Since the Flyball environment is so stimulating I don’t take Meeker along, especially when the crating space is limited as it is at that tournament. No injuries, our team (Black Sheep Squadron) racked up 471 points that day, and Milo’s team ended up in 3rd place after just loosing in the final race to Canine Athletics who took first (we came to the finals from the loser’s bracket).

The day before our team mate Ulu earned her ONYX title. Ulu is a Belgian Laekenois and continues to be the highest titled of her rare breed. Charlene and Ulu have earned all their points with Black Sheep.

So I’ve also spent a fair amount of time updating our team’s website. It had been badly neglected; I hadn’t updated it in nearly three years. It was sad when I converted the text of Mr. Peabody’s Flyball biography to past tense when I moved him to the newly created Veterans page. Still have a lot of our new dogs to add…

On a lighter note, Nancy at For Your Canine asked me to teach a beginner’s Flyball class at her facility Jan-Feb next year. So I’ve also been typing up my Flyball training progression and plan on posting it and probably some individual articles on starting Flyball training in the coming weeks. So agility readers will have to bear with me.

Happy Holidays!
