Here’s the basic layout:

Obstacle Legend

If you move the red jumps further to the right from jumps 1/2 the handler has to move further to get the dog to the take off side of the jumps. If you move the red jumps down toward jumps 1/2 the dog has to wrap jump 2 more tightly to avoid the wrong side of jump 3. Do both and it can become a foot race for the handler ….

I went to play with this sequence and found the “new” more confident Flyer doesn’t always like to collect and likes to look for the next “obvious” obstacle to take when he is excitedly running. So we didn’t actually spend that much time trying all the handling possibilities.

But I thought I’d post this video so you could see it all “go wrong” and how I took a few minutes to break down the sequence and work the collection and Recall to Side drills before continuing on. In training I always say the sequence really isn’t important; I’d rather have good execution!

When I posted this on FaceBook two handler’s kindly shared their handling approaches. First was Rose and Willie:

Here is John and Razzle Bella:

Thanks for sharing your approaches!

But there are a few more handling variations for this sequence! It was fun to play with. I hope you give it a try.
